'Proud of where we are': Little Indonesia in Somersworth to hold community celebration
May 13, 2022
What is being billed as the world's first Little Indonesia came to life one year ago as Indonesian dignitaries and city leaders cut the red ribbon that marked the opening of the cultural center on High Street.
While the plans to build a full-scale Little Indonesia district are expected to take years and millions of dollars to fully realize in this small New Hampshire city of less than 12,000 people, the project has come a long way since the Indonesian Community Connect announced its initial plan five years ago.
Since then, it has become a "hub" of services, events, and information for the Indonesian community and local community at-large, ICC President Raude Raychel said.
