The Somersworth NH Little Indonesia District project is seen as a partnership

May 19th, 2021

Somersworth – Last weekend, Indonesian officials, local Indonesian leaders, Somersworth city officials and the public gathered to celebrate the opening of a small Indonesian cultural center in downtown Somersworth.

Officials said on Tuesday that the partnership between the two countries did not end there, suggesting that a long-term partnership is expected with a commitment to the so-called vision.

The mayors of Somersworth and Dover and Indonesia's deputy ambassador met on Tuesday morning in the city council chamber to discuss future plans regarding Tri-Cities and Indonesia.

The cultural center itself is the first phase of the Little Indonesia District project in New Hampshire's smallest town, hoping there will be more projects across the United States, according to officials. Somersworth has about 2,000 Indonesians out of its total population of 11,000. More Indonesians live in Dover and other communities.
